Examination Cell
The Examination Cell is an important part of the Institution. The Prime responsibility of Examination Cell is conducting the University Theory and Practical examinations in fair and systematic manner under the directions of the Chief Superintendent (Principal/Senior most Faculty) of Examinations. The Exam Cell is well established in terms of infrastructure, computing and printing facilities and modern equipment and maintaining the Hard Copies in Files. Examination cell coordinates with the University regarding all examination matters. Any information either received or required to be sent to the University are being dealt with in the Exam cell. The Examination cell functions according to the rules and regulations of the University of Madras, Chennai.
- Application for admission to the hostel should be made in the prescribed form.
- Students admitted to the hostel for a particular year should pay the fee for the entire period of one year.
- Malala Hostel for women consisting of 3 in a room with bath attached, and also air-conditioned rooms available.
- A student who joins the hostel is expected to stay for a minimum period of one academic year.

Duly filled application form must be submitted to the hostel office within the stipulated time along with the following documents (photocopy):
(a) Fee Receipt of admission to the course.
(b) Proof of Permanent Residence Certificate.
(c) 06 colour Passport size photographs.

Hostel
Rules & Regulations
- All residents should be back in their respective rooms by 6.00 p.m.
- Attendance (Roll-Call)will be taken after that time.
- No woman student should be entertained in the men's hostel and vice versa.
- Cleanliness should be maintained in the hostel.
- All the students must carry their hostel and college ID cards at all times
- All the occupants of a room are equally responsible for any damage, loss of furniture, etc., and in such events the cost will be recovered through a collective fine.
- Students are not allowed to stay in the hostels during the college hours without any valid reason / permission from their respective Warden / Hostel Manager or Head of the Department.
- Ragging in any form is not permitted. If any student is found engaged in any kind of ragging activities he/she will be expelled from the college immediately.
- Study hours is from 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. during which time the door of the room must be left open (excepting A/C rooms)
- No day-scholars or guests are permitted to stay in the hostel without availing permission from their respective Hostel Chief Warden.
- Sticking posters, papers, photos, etc., on the walls of the hostel rooms is prohibited.
- All the students have to switch off the lights, fans and ACs of the room when they leave their rooms
- Laundry will be collected from residents.
- Consumption of drugs, alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited in the hostel.
- In case of serious illness and infectious disease, the students should report the same to the concerned Resident Warden for necessary action.
- Any form of gambling is strictly prohibited in the hostel.
- The residents of hostels will not be permitted to keep any personal vehicles inside the college campus (two wheelers or four wheelers) except bicycles.

Issue of Hall Ticket for Examination
- Hall tickets received from University of Madras are distributed to eligible students by the respective departments.
- The examinations shall ordinarily be conducted between November and December during the odd semesters and between April and May in the even semesters.
- For the semester examination, a Chief Superintendent is appointed by the Principal. The hall superintendents are selected by Chief Superintendent.
- An invigilation schedule is prepared as per University format.
- Due to any reason if the Hall Superintendent cannot report for duty they are advised to make an alternate arrangement and inform to Exam Cell.Coordinators/Chief Superintendent in advance.
- Due to any reason if Hall Superintendents don’t turn up for the duties, either reserve superintendents to do the duty or alternate Hall Superintendent are appointed.
- Question papers are issued by the University as per their schedule in sealed covers.
- They shall endorse the signature on the opened question paper cover.
Conduct of Final Theory Examinations
- Exam Cell prepares the hall arrangements and seating arrangements as per University prescribed format.
- The candidates are supposed to locate their hall and seat with their register numbers displayed at the entrance of the examination hall and occupy their respective seats.
- The candidates are allowed to enter the examination hall only 15 minutes before the commencement of examination.
- Candidates are not allowed to leave their seats under any pretext during examination hours.
- They are required to bring their hall tickets and Identity Card issued to them attested by the Principal at the time of the examination.
- The timings will be followed for conducting the University examinations as per the University of Madras schedule.
- If a candidate loses his / her Hall ticket, a requisition letter from them to allow him / her to write the examination with the recommendation of HOD and authorization from Chief Superintendent is used as temporary hall ticket.
- The Hall Superintendent distributes the answer books and question papers.
- The hall superintendent after verifying the hall ticket, signs in the answer book at the appropriate place.
- The hall superintendent records attendance in the format given by the University and hands it over along with undistributed question papers / answer books after 30 minutes of commencement of examination.
- On completion of the examination, the students hand over the answer books to the hall superintendent.
- The hall superintendent collects and arranges it in sequential order (branch wise / register number wise) of all the answer books and hands them over to the Chief Superintendent.
- The answer books handed over by the Hall Superintendent are kept in sealed covers with endorsement by Chief Superintendent.
- Any malpractice of the candidate during the examination is reported by the hall superintendent to the Chief Superintendent.
- The Hall Superintendent collects the answer paper / supporting materials along with written statement from the concerned candidate and sends it to the Chief Superintendent.
- The Chief Superintendent forwards the same to University along with a covering letter, students; seating location chart and hall Superintendent’s report.
- A decision on the disciplinary action if any to be taken is decided by the University and intimated to the Principal and the concerned student.
The Function of the Examination Cell
- Any Circular, Guideline, Office Order, Notification received by the College are processed in the Examination cell, reply thereof prepared and after Principal’s signature dispatched to the University.
- Examination Notices received from the University are duly served to all concerned.
- The notices for University indicating detail the last date of fee collection, modalities of payments of fine etc.
- The Examination Cell coordinates the conduct of Internal Assessment Exams, Model Exam and University Theory and Practical Examinations for all the UG and PG programmes.
- Preparation of smooth conduct of examinations, invigilation duty chart, seat allotment in the examination halls etc.
- During the examination time, proper staff mobilization, assigning the duty as per the duty chart already prepared.
- After completion of examination, distribution of answer books to the concerned teachers and receiving the answer books and preparing in the desired format to send them to University.
