The department of Microbiology was established in 1995. Microbiology is a broad discipline that involves a study of classification of Micro-organisms, Ecology and Cell Biology, Applications in Agriculture, Food and Medicine. It teaches about micro organisms with particular emphasis on the biology of Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi, Algae and Protozoan Parasites, which also covers aspects of Biochemistry, Physiology and Genetics of microorganisms. The department has industrial and institutional links to facilitate internships and guest lectures by senior academicians.
