Regulations for Undergraduate Programmes
Duration of the Programme
- The Undergraduate (UG) Programme is of three (3) years duration, comprising six (6) semesters. The programme has been divided into two semesters per year.
- Academic year stream: July to November and December to June.
- Calendar year stream : January to June and July to December.
Eligibility Conditions for Admission
- Admission to the First Year of B.A. / B.Com. / B.Sc. / B.B.A. / B.C.A. / B.F.A. (Music) Programmes is open to candidates who have passed any one of the following:
- Higher Secondary Examination (+2) under the 10+2 / 11+1 / 11+2 pattern conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or any recognized Board/State/Union Territory, or an equivalent examination recognized by the University of Madras
- Plus Two Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), New Delhi.
- Three-year Diploma after 10th Standard conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai.
- Pre-Technical Examination conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai
- G.C.E. (A Level) with a minimum of three subjects and English at O Level.
- Pre-University / Pre-Degree Examinations conducted by the University of Madras or any other recognized University.
- CBSE Senior School Certificate (XII Standard) or ISC Examination, with a pass in not less than five subjects including English.
- Intermediate / Pre-Degree / Pre-University Examinations (2 years) of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, or Karnataka under the 10+2 pattern.
- Candidates who have completed 12 or 13 years of schooling in India or abroad, subject to approval by the authorities of the University of Madras

Regulations for post Graduate Programmes
Duration of the Programme
- The Postgraduate (PG) Programme is of two (2) years duration, comprising Four (4) semesters. The programme has been divided into two semesters per year
- Academic year stream :July to November and December to June
- Calendar year stream : January to June and July to December.
Eligibility Conditions for Admission
- Candidates must have passed an Undergraduate Degree from a University or College recognized by the UGC, under the 10+2+3 / 10+3+2 / 11+1+3 / 11+2+2 pattern (15 years of study), or an equivalent qualification recognized by the University of Madras, and must satisfy the eligibility criteria of the respective programme

- Students choosing a project in the 4th semester must pay the project fee along with the second-year tuition fee.

- Candidates must have: Passed B.C.A./B.Sc. in Computer Science or an equivalent degree,OR passed B.Sc./B.Com./B.A. with Mathematics at the 10+2 level or as part of their undergraduate curriculum (with an optional bridge course, if applicable).
- Attendance Requirements:
- A minimum of 50% attendance in theory classes is mandatory.
- 100% attendance in practical sessions is compulsory for eligibility to appear in the End Semester Examinations.

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / Computer Application / Networking / Cyber Forensics and Information Security / Digital Forensics and Information Security / Information Security / Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Electronics and Communication Science / Data Science / Artificial Intelligence / Criminology or Forensic Science with a Certificate or Diploma course in Computer Science from approved institutions. Any other degree where 50% of core subjects are directly related to Computer Science.
- B.E. or B.Tech. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Electrical & Communication Engineering / Instrumentation & Electronics / Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering / Artificial Intelligence / Data Science / any other disciplines of B.E. / B.Tech where 50% of core subjects are directly related to Computer Science.
- Practitioners in the Government Departments of Police / Forensic Science / Defence / Judiciary or working professionals from IT industries / Banking / Telecom Industries / Corporates, working in core information technology related jobs with any Bachelor Degree and minimum three years of work experience as stated above. Original proof of experience as full time employee and salary certificates needed.
- Attendance Requirements:
- A minimum of 50% attendance in theory classes is mandatory.
