The Department of Commerce (BM & CS), in association with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), organized a one-day workshop titled “Transformers: Turning Trash to Treasure” under the theme “Green Ideas, Smart Business: Clean Future” on 23 July 2025 at Newton Hall. The session was conducted by Mr. Sivabalan G, Young Entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Micha Meedhi, Chennai. The workshop aimed to raise environmental awareness by educating students on the impact of waste and the importance of recycling and upcycling. It promoted creative thinking by encouraging students to transform everyday waste materials into useful and decorative products. The session also focused on developing practical, hands-on skills in crafting, upcycling, and sustainable design, while instilling sustainable practices such as waste segregation, reduction, reuse, and responsible consumption. Additionally, the programme inspired entrepreneurial thinking by highlighting opportunities to convert recycled products into marketable ventures.
