The Hindustan College of Arts &Science was founded by late Educationist, Philanthropist, and a great visionary Dr. K.C.G. Verghese in the year 1995. The Institution is committed to the goals of providing quality education in the field of higher education. Access to higher education is an important measure of progress, and pursuing the same in a top reputed college is often an expensive choice to make, especially if you are struggling to save up money, not only for fees but for accommodation and other living costs, College expenses can be very steep and sometimes unaffordable. We at HCAS do not want the cost of a college education to be a burden or stand in the way of the students success.
 
The college strongly supports economically challenged students through the scholarships provided by the government, non-government organizations and philanthropists. Inspired by Dr. Verghese’s vision “To make everyone a success and no man a failure,” the Management realizes its social responsibility to provide financial aid and scholarships to the deserving students to complete their higher education. In addition to this, the Management has launched a new scheme called “JAI HIND SCHOLARSHIP” for needy & deserving students.
The procedure of grant of scholarship by the management is clearly defined in the scholarship policy of the institution. Such scholarships may cover tuition and related expenses, as applicable, and as per the conditions defined by the Management. All the scholarships are subject to renewal based on the minimum attendance and academic performance specified as per the college rules and regulations.

Learning Grant

The Management provides scholarships on the following grounds

SC & ST Government Scholarship

  • The Government of Tamil Nadu through Dept. of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (ADTW) provides Post-Matric Scholarship to the Scheduled Caste (SC)&Scheduled Tribe (ST) who are pursuing UG/PG courses. The Post-matric Scholarship is based on parents Income certified by the Tahsildar of the district. From 2014, the entire process has been made available online and the amount and Course fee is directly credited to the beneficiary student’s bank account.

Sibling Scholarship

  • Scholarship will be given to the students for the siblingsof HCAS students.

Alumni Scholarship

  • Scholarship to encourage students to take up their post-graduate programmes in their fields of study.

Dr.K.C.G Verghese Foundation Scholarship

  • Special concession for Girls students if the pay whole hostel fee for the year, at 10% discount will be offered.

National Scholarship Portal (NSP)

  • Covers all types of Scholarships for UG, PG, PhD level students. It is given from ministry of minority affairs (MOMA), Govt of India for Minorities. https://nsp.gov.in/

Merit Scholarship

  • Scholarship for students who score more than 75% marks in higher secendary examination.

First Graduate Scholarship

  • Scholarship for students who are the first ones in the family to get admission to a graduate programme.

Sportsperson Scholarship

  • Scholarship for sports person who has participated in state and national level games/sports.
  • Hindustan College of Arts & Science is affiliated to the University of Madras, a 166-year-old University in South India. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has conferred "Five Star" accreditation to the university and it has been given the status of 'University with Potential for Excellence’ by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University has produced world-renowned Scientists, Mathematicians, Industrialists, Educationists, Philanthropists etc.
  • The College has been ranked in the 9th position among the arts and sciences colleges in India.
  • There are around 150 faculty members in which many of them are NET/SLET and Ph.D. qualified. Some of them are pursuing Post-Doctorate Fellowship dedicated to research activities in their respective departments.

The College has a very active Unit of NCC/ NSS / YRC / RRC & ROTARACT. The NSS consists of Two Units, the aim is to develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook and the capacity to identify and study community problems, to plan and carry out welfare projects as a team.

The College is a proud member of Toastmasters International, which is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Fueling confidence, honing orators, and unleashing leaders is the prime aim of the HCAS Toastmasters club. It paves the path to eloquence, nurturing future leaders and skilled public speakers.

We offer a range of scholarships including merit-based, sibling scholarship, alumni scholarship, first graduate, need-based, sports person and external scholarships. Each is designed to support students based on academic achievement, financial need, leadership, or special talents.

Some scholarships are automatically considered upon admission, while others require separate applications.

Many scholarships are renewable provided you meet the renewal criteria, such as maintaining a minimum GPA or completing a set number of credit hours. Details are outlined in your scholarship award letter.

The ‘Earn While You Learn’ concept is introduced to provide financial help to the needy students in exchange for academics related works. This initiative will have a 3-pronged result: 1. Students will earn extra pocket-money, 2. They gain some work experience, 3. Hands-on-training while studying; which is something our educational system lacks.

HCAS Hostel mess serves both Vegetarian & Non Vegetarian food as per the choice of the students. Hostel mess provides hygienic and wholesome food to the students.
