HCAS commemorates Abdul Kalam Birth Day

The Hindustan College of Arts and Science Padur celebrated 88th Birth day of former President Dr. APJ  Abdul Kalam in its campus as large number of students and faculties participated

It started with prayer and Mrs. D. Jayanthi Margaret HOD Electronics and Communication Science welcomed gathering and said it is  her pleasure to welcome all to this and said Dr. Kalam was a global leader as he had humble beginning became missile man of India and excelled in everything.  She welcomed the Deputy Director Dr. VJ Philip about whom she fondly said and also welcomed  Dr. S. Thirumagan the Principal who is dynamic,  won recent syndicate election. She also welcomed student council membersand others who came  to participate in this function

In his felicitation address Dr. S. Thirumagan the Principal paid tributes to Dr. Kalam and said he is most admired person in the country after Mahatma Gandhi as students like him more.  He got three prestigious awards of Padma Bhushan Padma Vibushan and Bharat Ratna and captured love and affection in students mind.  Convincing students are difficult and narrated a story of Dr. Kalam to drive his point,  Dr. Thirumagan recalled how he also helped a handicapped girl to win plastic leg which made her to walk easily unlike with a  heavier one duly helped by Dr. Kalam in this regard.  Envisioning 2020 India is a hall mark of Dr. Kalam and students regard him highly and who stressed in aiming higher in life wished success as he ended.

The staff and dignitaries paid floral tributes to Dr. Kalam and in his felicitation address Dr. VJ Philip Deputy Director academics said he personally knew of Dr. Kalam.  In 2007 when he was Principal of MCC he invited Dr. Kalam to college who readily accepted and came. Students listened to him absolute silence as he spoke for 30 minutes and 5000 students participated.  This was in strong contrast to an indigenous scientist who spoke in MCC some time and who could not maintain silence for 15 minutes.  He said Dr. Kalam did not regard positions highly unlike others of our time and won hearts of students and recalled contribution of Dr. Kalam as he ended wished success.

Certificates were distributed to students of visual communication who participated in drawing competitions Mr. Saravana Sundar Assistant Professor – Electronic and communication science proposed a vote of thanks thanking all for making this program a success.
