The department was established in 2000 with the student strength of around 30 and faculty of around 3 members. Now, the department has grown with the strength of 600 students and 14 faculty members. The foremost objective of the department is to train the students for technical and non – technical fields.
The course has been designed keeping in mind the desirable characteristics of a competent Computer Professional. They are as follows: Communication skills - To be achieved through Seminars by students Logical and numerical ability - To be achieved through Programming Knowledge of computers, consisting of strong fundamentals of Programming methodology, Internet, Operating Systems, Databases, NET applications, and Web applications. The course provides a sound academic base through which an advanced career in computer application can be developed. The graduates can start their career as junior programmers and get promoted to the senior programmers & project managers in the IT field.
The main focus of the Department is to train the students to shine in the most competitive field of Information Technology and motivate them to become a disciplined citizen as well. The Department aims to enhance our student’s caliber by organizing seminars, workshops, training & placement, soft skill programs. Our students learn by tasks, Projects, Best Practices, Hands on experience and bridge courses with various IT companies. This kind of exposure gives our learners to understand, apply and synthesize the higher level concepts in the domain of Information Technology.
The course is a post graduate course of 2 years duration. The course teaches the students about the higher level concepts in the domain of Computer Science. Since most of the sectors are now computerized, the career opportunities of Computer Science experts have gone up.

Desktop publishing is a new advancement in media production which allows publishers to view and revise their products digitally before printing or finalizing them. Newspapers, magazines, newsletters, promotional pamphlets, flyers, and websites can all be created using desktop publishing techniques and software.

ICT Academy is an initiative of the Government of India in collaboration with the state Governments and industries. ICT Academy is a not-for-profit society, and a joint venture under the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model.
ICT Academy was started to meet the skill requirements of the industry and generate more employment especially in tier 2 and 3 towns, the rural parts of the country. The organization was formed with representations from the State Government of Tamil Nadu, leading companies in the ICT industry and National Association of Software Services Companies NASSCOM in India.
With training of teachers and students as the primary objective, ICT Academy has been working through a seven pillar program in the areas of Faculty Development, Student Skill Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Youth Empowerment, Industry-Institute Interaction, Digital Empowerment and Research & Publications.
BCA stands for Bachelor of Computer Applications and it is an under graduate 3 year course in Computer Applications.
Student with Interest and good effort can easily cope up with it.
Ø A pass in the higher secondary examination (plus two ) with the following subjects Physics,Chemistry with Maths and Computer Science /Informatic Practices(or) Commerce,Accountacy with Maths and Computer Science/Informatic Practices.<br/>
Ø Students with computer science and Maths /Accountacy to get preference.
A successful BCA graduate gets opportunities to work with IT companies,E-Commerce companies etc Or one can go for post graduation course like MCA,MBA etc..
Maths is compulsory for doing B.SC. computer Science Whereas students with Commerce and accountancy background are eligible for BCA.
