Pongal fest held in HCAS Today

The Department of Languages HCAS  organized Pongal festival in its campus in Padur today as Patti Manram or Debate forum was organized along with cultural events for students and faculties.  The Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan Vice Principal Mr. Samuel Sampath Kumar along with teaching faculties and students participated. Poet GudiyathamKumanan was the chief guest as Principal delivered special address.

In his address Dr. S. Thirumagan the Principal spoke of significance of this event Pongal festival to Tamils and how teachers should conduct themselves to students.  He lamented the teacher student interactions desires much to be improved and asked faculty to work on it 

Earlier Dr. T Maharaja Pillai welcomed all to gathering spoke on importance and relevance of this event to students and faculties in today’s context and stressed importance of languages in unifying nation.

The Chief Guest Mr.GudiyathamKumanan spoke next saying this is a good college to study and stressed importance of gathering knowledge in education.   He spoke of CN Annadurai late CM of Tamil Nadu who had gone to Yale university USA and who answered 100 questions of students cleverly revealing knowledge and expertise. Mr. Kumanan said you should be good in language and speech and importance of oratory narrated  the story of a person who had asked boon to god in becoming a good speaker and a person and how he succeeded 

He stressed importance of music and telling stories in musical form and thanked the Principal and management for giving him an opportunity and started the Patti Manram

Two senior faculties of college Dr. Ganesh Kumar of Microbiology department and Dr. S Azhagu of computer science department got to speak on where are we going in planned way or without direction.  

Dr. Ganesh Kumar spoke on Planned path and spoke of successes of nation in Chandrayan and spoke of Mr. Sivan director of ISRO missions science and technology and success of Dr, Ilanjiam his HOD in planning programs and said country is making good progress in this direction

Dr. Azagu spoke the failure of Vikram Lander the Chandrayan mission lack of water to drink and blamed corruption for country going in wrong direction Problems in employment MNC’s profit making efforts and students craze for wrong modernization she blamed for some problems

Two students each spoke on agreeing and disagreeing with topic of debate.   Miss I Evangeline Rajakumari I Bcomspoke for planned path the country is going said and college teachers plan classes and profusely quoted former President APJ Abdul Kalam for taking country in right direction R Rahul  I BBA spoke next complained of corruption arguing for going in unplanned or different direction complained of social media and others for moral decay. Miss Saranya III BA English spoke next said country or world is heading in right direction as teachers plan and conduct classes also referred to Abdul Kalam Spoke of Malala who won Nobel prize for women’s empowerment and education Mr. Praveen Kumar of IIIBcom said of decay in moral discipline and said things are in to unplanned way criticized media also for state of things and spoke on current trends of nation to cite his case

Mr. Kumanan the Chief Guest and moderator declared both teams as winners and Dr. Sakthi Prabha Dean of humanities and he gave way awards to participants and faculties.  Dr. R Ilayaraja proposed vote of thanks thanking everyone for making this a great success and cultural programs Pongal distribution followed at the end.
