It also influences creation of employment, incomes, opportunities for personal enterprise, standards of living of all individuals. Research in commerce delves into the complex nature of business analysing the impact of international trade, the effects government policies have on economy and employment, and to analyse financial transactions to learn and discover the various causes of successes and failures of different business enterprises.

  • Master’s degree in commerce is the qualification required for M. Phil. (Commerce).

  • Candidates with any other equivalent qualification are also eligible to apply.  The qualification must be obtained with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Post Graduation, and it must be recognized by the University of Madras.

  • The duration of the M. Phil., course shall extend over a period of one year from the commencement of the course.

Yes, the student aspiring to join the course has to undergo a common entrance exam conducted by the department.
