OBJECTIVE:-
The ‘World ozone day ‘was celebrated to commemorate the date of signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987.The primary goal of the celebration is to preserve the ozone layer from depletion by creating awareness among the students and public of the society.
DESCRIPTION:-
The ‘World ozone day ‘was celebrated on the theme ‘Impact of Ozone depletion and conservation of ozone layer’ .The programme started at 10am fine morning with the prayer song by II year B.Sc girls. The welcome speech was given by Dr. T. Ramesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology.The prominent talk was given by Dr. Elizabeth Rani Junieus, HOD – Biotechnology on the theme ‘The ozone layer-Roof of the world’ with her noteworthy PowerPoint presentation.
THE CONTRIBUTION OF STUDENTS:-
Students of B.Sc and M.Sc department of biotechnology actively gave their involvement for creating awareness towards the depletion and conservation of the ozone layer by making posters and models. Students of II B.Sc biotechnology presented a Mime show for 15 mins on the theme of celebration. In accordance to the above mentioned objectives around 12 students of B.Sc and M.Sc- department of biotechnology displayed their handmade posters and models on the college premise. Other than making posters and models students came up with their poem on the theme, to create a better understanding of importance of ozone layer .
Mythili Divya of II B.Sc Biotechnology, Aarthana nagarajah I M.Sc biotechnology and Dr. T. Ramesh, Assistant Professor presented their own poem on the day of celebration in which the expression of ideas brought ever ones attention towards the importance of ozone layer. The programme successfully ended up with Vote of thanks by Dr. Bharathi Ravikrishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology and with National Anthem.
INFERENCE:-
The world ozone day celebration brought new ideas to protect the ozone layer from depletion as it serves as the roof of the world.
